Melville Society Cultural Project
Book Donation Program

The Book Donation Program sends Melville texts, biography, and criticism to libraries, universities, and institutions abroad.

The program was instituted after the first international meeting of the Melville Society in Volos, Greece, in 1997, and has since sent collections to Russia, India (two institutions), China (two institutions), Palestine, Ukraine, Algeria, Iran, Argentina, Iraq, and Uruguay — ten countries on four continents.

If you know of an institution that would be interested in receiving a collection of Melville books, please send the name and address of the institution and the email address of a contact person at the institution to Mary K. Bercaw Edwards, mary.bercaw_edwards@uconn.edu:

We are also seeking donations to help fund the book donation program and cover the high costs of international shipping.
